There are lots of l/o o/o that don't make that kind of money.
Congratulations.
IN a free market society competition decides the rates. In general the lowest bidder gets the job.
And then you get the drivers who can't wait to give their time away, company and o/o's.
Ughmm, the ELD measures on/off work hours ..

Well I'm in the Specialized side of the business where it hard to get into and even harder to keep people if you don't pay good. Of course you got people who under bid everyone but they lose driver to fast to have any effect past the short term

Find me a company that will pay me $25+ per hour and get me home for 1 to 3 days out of every 8 to 10 days and I'll work hourly... Until that time I will continue to make an average of about $26 per hour for every hour I drive.
-
Many wont accept a lower wage... But many more will unknowingly, because that "Paid for every hour your working" sounds really nice... Which means that those who don't, wont have a job. There's already enough "race to the bottom" in this industry. Lets not make wages go the same way by going to hourly.
No company in thier right mind (I sure as hell wouldnt, nor would I expect it) is going to pay you for off duty or sleeper time, so unless you fingerprint alot of frieght there is only what MAYBE 1 hour per day that you are not actively gaining income when paid by the mile? I average well under 1 hour per day of on duty time.Coffey Thanks this. -
That doesn't add up. What about the hours you don't drive?
-

But can you make more money at a 9 to 5, home every night job?
Edit: my income increased by 50% simply by getting in a truck and going OTR... And I left a good paying job, where I went home every night.
