The ugliest? Colorado east of the mountains. I could never understand why anyone would live in Denver. Salt Lake City is everything that Denver aspires to be, but isn’t.

Sorry but Georgia, especially around Atlanta is pretty ugly.....very unkept streets and people living like bums or driving way too fast...

I dont think it's ugly..just drab. It definitely has its own beauty. I hear the Jackson area near the Tetons is gorgeous, never been up that way. Like someone said..all states have their own beauty in their own unique way. Someone mentioned New Jersey, yea Newark is nasty but the country side up there is nice.

And beauty is definitely subjective. There are plenty of choices in the American geography to make us all happy. Perhaps this thread should have had us highlight our favorites instead. Areas I like out weigh areas I dislike probably 10 to 1.

I have a relative that lives in south Jersey, in Bridgeton. The are outside the town is really nice, mostly flat farmland, with small towns scattered in between. In Salem, the main street reminds me of the movie 'A Christmas Story'. Just has a '50's feel to it.

I think I could actually consider living somewhere down there between Bridgeton and Salem.

Unfortunately the area is changing, and not for the better.

Alabama didn't do much for me, I thought it was pretty boring. Not much to see. Maybe being there in the July heat had something to do with it. Not saying it was ugly, just wasn't what I thought it would be

Another vote for Mississippi. That state has bad roads, junky towns, boring landscape. Always dread going through it.

It's cheaper to live in a homeless camp out there.....I mean, homeless camp or 3 or 4k rent? With a handful of exceptions, jobs don't really pay enough for people to live in this country.
