mine runs door to frame...guess i better look at my post spelling before i send it... what antenna stud do you use??? i use the predator stainless steel stud. i got it thru walcott cb for $22.00. its the very best stud i've found. im waiting to see rabbi p. and the stud he is coming out with. with the equipment i run everything matters. coax the stud ground strap.i always try to use stainless steel. doesn't always work but i try.............

I wouldn't exactly say that I am coming out with a stud. I am helping someone else come out with a stud and I am offering him advice about how to construct it and certain features that it must have.bored silly Thanks this.

Well you daw my mount..Stud is from hard drive and so is coax...Not useing his coax atm cause the #'s are way outta wack compared to my old truck stop cb shop coax and i have no idea how to go about fixing it..
Ill have to do a comparision in the next day or two when i mt out and get an area i can drag out my mfj 259b.. -
The numbers are out of whack because there is something wrong with the truck

Oh i know that..Just have no idea what direction to go....I have tried longer shorter ant, diff mounts, diff studs, single coil, dbl coil,5 ft fibreglass top loaded, back of the cab and ya all saw my latest attempt with that long shafted mount....I even have two braded wire straps goin from door to cab....That 14 ft slab of ss you suggested is a big gamble just to try to see if it works...Was off most of this yr with cancer #### so budget is limited..Kinda been diggin into my saveing to keep bills paid n such but not blowin it on cb stuff....Started my 1st run yesterday in a month so once my walkin around $$ picks up in more willing to try expensive ideas...

Take a magnet and stick it to the back of your cab. I'm 99% sure its 100% Steel.
If that's the case, it's not really a Gamble and it should perform exactly the same as all the Volvos I've done. The reason for using one long piece of metal is due to the fact you only have 2 mounting holes.
One hole on each side of the truck isn't enough to give you the stability you are looking for if you were to use 2 separate brackets -
You could actually use 2 separate pieces but you would need it welded in the middle.
-
If you take your measurements right and compared the measurements to a Volvo 660 you should be able to make a single bracket that fits on both trucks to give you more versatility down the road

Spark up a pic, love to see a finished job...
Also gonna need some kinda coax to work back there and a pair of matching ant...$$ is tight with my cancer issues so when i get some effing around $$ set aside
