With marks coax im thinkin part of the prob is those two lil teeth on the pl259 end...That dont allow the end and the stud to have a flush surface touching a flush surface..Now on the back of a radio its perfect cause of the inverted stud that will allow teeth to mesh and lock the coax from moveing..
    BUT im grasping here

I don't think your grasping you might be onto something there.you might try some new connectors. most times people use the pl 259 amphenol connecters.I'm not sure what mark uses for that ????? kinda freaking me out your having these problems. with that coax you should be getting excellent results.

ME too..These are the amphenol ends..Hard to see in the pic but im thinkin if those two lil teeth were ground down and haveing two flat surfaces fully touching,it might solve SOME of my issue..On the stud side its as flat and smooth as a babys butt.. 1468525517444.jpg

    Here is my idea....
To save money you can use regular Steel across the back and get some 3 by 3 inch square stainless steel plates 3/16 thick and weld them to the outside.
It's going to take a professional welder to weld stainless steel to carbon steel but it will work if done correctly and be a lot cheaper than a strip of stainless going across the back. Once it's all on you can see how rigid it is and if there's any Flex to it you can add some cross braces diagonally back down to the lower part of the cab to reinforce it to keep it from flexing.
That would be the easiest way to get 0 ohms down to the frame and the most amount of metal Mass in front of the antennas.

Despite the reputation of the LMR cable is there a chance of a manufacturing defect. Also if you have access to a 50 ohm dummy load just testing the coax may give you some idea.
