I drove a T2000 back in 2003 and it had an automatic. Your right, you can shift manual. I was thinking about this last night driving my DD13 10 speed pulling a hill. The rpms were about 1200 and to downshift would have reved the rpms too high. This is where a 13 speed would come in handy, but who wants to do all that shifting. So, i guess in that situation if you had an automatic it would keep shifting up and down destroying mpgs. But if you shift to manual on the automatic you could downshift with ease and lower your speed to match best rpm. Do they make 13 speed automatics?

Yes they make 13 speed ultrashift plus as well as an 18 speed....I saw the video at the Eaton site and the one thing they emphasized with this new ultrashift plus is that the programming in shifts are much better and can be changed to suit the needs of the company. So they seem to have made some improvements. I do like the fact that it is the exact same tranny as the 13 and 18 except that it has a computer controlled shifter. I quess the 5 year/750,000 mile standard warranty shows their confidence but still, I am not won over at the moment.

I would love to change a few things inside the ECM of my UltraShift

I am really surprised that some enterprising young person that can manipulate the code, has not come up with modification programs that one could slip into a transmission ECM. They have done this already on smaller vehicle ECM's. I put a tune in my Jeep Liberty Diesel, and the folks that I got it from, now offer a custom tune for the transmission to adjust shift points and such.
