No, not at all. I’ve had one for a few yrs now. DOT Dr actually advised against fixing it if it’s not a bother. Same with Dr I saw for a second opinion. I’m going to get it fixed eventually anyway.

Freak out dude, I have one and it was said to get worst if you don't watch yourself picking up stuff. I ignored that advice until I met a forklift driver who has a specially made girdle because his split and he has half of his gut hanging out under the skin, they can't operate on him until he drops some weight and he has lost about 3 pounds since I met him four years ago - stubborn idiot.

No! It does not! Take care of yourself and keep a close watch on this. Do your research on just what a hernia is. While there is medical reasoning that surgery is not required, it is possible to aggravate a hernia and in some cases be an emergency. Just pulling yourself up into the truck can damage it further. One of my uncles was near Little Rock and had a hernia going all the way back to the 50s. He was climbing up into the truck and damaged it further.

I know a guy who had his hernia " fixed" they put in that mesh , his body rejected it he had tons of problems. He finally had it removed and now the only thing holding him in is the skin. Just below the rib cage in the center of his body it looks like a golf ball under the skin pushing out .

As I said in my first post that answer is NO! However, depending on things it is important to remember as a trucker you are doing things almost every day that require the use of those muscles in your lower stomach. If you have a hernia, things, like pulling yourself up into the truck and raising and lowering the landing gear, can cause problems over time. Keep a close watch on the hernia and remember to be careful with any physical activity.
