I drive a straight truck but we have a driver who backed into a gate parking in our yard, backed into a Mercedes, was caught by a red light camera blowing a red light and got a ticket for an unsecured load all in one year. Not only did the company pay his tickets but he is still working.

You will go back to your terminal, Safety will ask you what happened, then someone from either Safety or Training will ride with you to a nearby truck stop and you will practice backing, you will them drive back to your terminal, your pee pee will he whacked and after a brief "what are you going to do to avoid this in the future talk, you will be on your way back down the road.

Yes, this is basically the best possible scenario if your guilty of an accident or something, and if your under one year exp. If your over one year exp, then they probably will just get your side of the story, to make a paper trail to terminate you in the near future, if not that day.

geez... Maybe I should be stockpiling accidents now, before I get over a year experience...

You would think, but the company will burn you the day your fired or the day you quit, by putting every possible incident on your DAC report. You can expect them to lie on your DAC report too if they don't like you.
I also heard, but haven't confirmed, that some trainer companies get a brand new truck from the government each time a driver with under 1 year exp gets into an accident. This means they are actually making huge profit from your accident cause they get a brand new truck in addition to repairing the old one. -
Well first off, you should not say on here you were planning to leave. Companies do look at these forums. It depends on how minor, but most companies want you to talk to safty in person and actually make you waste a few days driving around the yard. Many think if you spend a few days working without getting paid in the yard, you will be more careful int he future. Depednng on how minor, you prob are not getting fired.
