All the time. Some guy meets me at the truck stop and hands me a package of what appears to be baking soda for me to take to his friend.

Well I did give some to my dog when he began to beg. Then he licked his bowl, looked at me and did the wild thing on my leg! :(

I have had dock supervisors offer me money to pull trailers off their docks using my tractor because their switch truck was not available. I was tempted but with other drivers there I just did not feel comfortable doing it. Later on after some thought I knew I was right to say call my company and ask. They refused.

I've helped people move cross-country without charging them simply to do them a favor

When I worked for a medium sized carrier based in Shelbyville, TN, one of our big accounts was Jack Daniels (Lynchburg is ~17 miles from Shelbyville). I was picking up a preloaded trailer one day when the shipping clerk, who I knew by name because I was in there very often, asked if I would mind pulling a different loaded trailer (that belonged to my company also) out of the door and put it in the drop yard before I hooked to my load. I agreed. Took about 5 minutes of my time and he "payed me" with a deck of JD playing cards. I have no regrets.

I've know lots of drivers that did that. I never did though. Many intermodal drivers do it when they're hauling an empty for a long distance.

I remember the first time a dog did the wild thing on my leg. I was... maybe 7 or 8, watching TV... dog came in, did its thing... I thought it was a new trick the dog had learned, so I went into the kitchen, stuck my leg out for the dog to do its thing so I could show my mom... she ran over with a rolled up newspaper, swatted the dog once, then swatted me with it several times until I was out of the kitchen. That's why I found you don't play around with the funky cold medina.

When I owned end dumps, my drivers had a little leeway to call foremen of other paving companies, asphalt plant supervisors, etc. of other companies (ones I approved of) to see if they needed a truck on-site or to haul stock, in the event they got cut off a job early, but they wanted to make some hours that day. Then they'd call me to get the green light. That's the closest thing I can think of, but quite far from the OP's scenario still.

Yes in that case I would have moved my companies property as I have done many times. In my case they wanted me to hook up to other carriers property and thus was something I refused to do without my company telling me it was ok. Way too many eyes on me.
