Saw an index card posted up in a Kangaroo in Florida ... flatbed driver wanted, home daily and weekends - $500 A week.

 

And this OP is tougher, more disciplined than usual. They will want him.

 

I like TMC but they don't have APUs on trucks. They also limit your idle time unless outside temp is over a certain limit. Most other trucks have APUs or idle engine for heat, AC, or electrical power. When you are parked, not idling and no APU, you will be listening to others running their engines and APUs. I'm not sleeping at a truck stop with my truck windows open depending on the honesty of others to not wake up with a visitor in my truck.

 

Well I'd like to know who the hell you're talking about because I couldn't find a single local company that would look at me without at least 6 months of experience. I have 2 college degrees, an airplane mechanics and pilots license and a 20 year work history. I'd say I'm pretty #### disciplined. But I had no driving experience. That's the only thing they'd look at. I even interviewed with a company and after I gave my spout about my credentials and work history he said "how much driving you got?" I said well I'm fresh out of CDL school. He then said basically. don't call us, we'll call you. I never heard back from him.

I'd even push my clean driving record of 20 years, nothing. Nobody cared. I finally asked one of them how was I supposed to get experience if nobody would hire me without it? His response? Go OTR like everyone else.

 

Maybe you don't interview very well?
Not slamming you, some people just don't.

 

Where is your location? Saw an ad today that Reinhart Foodservice only wants one month experience to be hired. Don't know if you live in the hiring area or not. There may be more companies that run local.

 

You're over selling yourself. It's not experience they're interested in. It whether or not you'll like the job and will stay long enough to be worth the investment in training you.

If you interview like you post, you're coming across as an officious jerk. Your credentials are irrelevant.

 

Cypress is in FL, so you may have a better chance of getting home a bit more. And they're flatbed.

 

That's good money, not as much as the Kangaroo cashier makes, but still good nonetheless.
