I seem to be running into a brick wall over, and over.
I have been seeking OTR work since December 2018.
I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan witch is 100% regional or local work. I do not like being home every weekend, or daily.
I will not work for a carrier that does not go to the west coast or near it on a regular basis.
Cdl since 2008 driving record has gaps.
I know I am not going to get rich driving a truck. I owned my owned truck but went all but bankrupt accepting 90cpm plus 100% fsc pay plan from crooks. I have van and reefer experience. But I will train for other things like flatbed. I have hazmat, and tanker endorsements.
And one more complication I have a 13 pound dog that thinks they are 200 pounds of fury.
I was accepted by many companies for example, Central Oregon sounded great but no dog policy. I was hired by a local carrier than they said no dogs , even though I asked about dog policy at first communication.
I think I may be stuck going with a 1099 job near Chicago.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
uncertain how hireable I am??

SRT has what you want: www.southernref.com
The hiring map shows you're in the area and pet can ride along.
Note* hint, hint* your dog doesn't weigh more than the company allows, whatever that may be.Woodys and Intothesunset Thank this. -
I forgot to mention I do not know how to drive an automatic.
I think I have a manual transmission restriction on my license.? -
you would never have a manual restriction......but you could have an automatic restriction, meaning that's all you are allowed to operate....automatics.TROOPER to TRUCKER, Lonesome, Intothesunset and 2 others Thank this.

How willing are you to relocate to a hire able lane?
What part of the UP are you in? Are you up near Marquette or on the bottom? Being near a lane and a way to get you home makes a BIG difference.Intothesunset Thanks this. -
Automatic is push button same as any car. With certain problems.Intothesunset Thanks this.

I agree. They did not start with that silly restriction until about 14 years ago when automatic big trucks started really populating the USA. The states jumped on it and piled on it like Hounds to a scent. pffth. I say.Intothesunset and buddyd157 Thank this.

In Maine, Buddy, a 'Manual Restriction' means you are restricted from driving a manual.
Code E.
Omega1, shogun and Intothesunset Thank this. -

right, so that would be an automatic installed...???...wouldn;t that mean automatics only..????
in other words, from reading that list, there isn't an "automatic only" restriction..???KillingTime and Intothesunset Thank this.
