The rules speak for themselves I see no further need to do so. However lets not forget that a carrier is free to add years to this. A carrier might want 20 years of work history. Fully legal and don't not mean these regs are wrong. I am not going to try to justify or sanctify my comments by saying what I do or such in regard to this hiring process. That would be VERY vulgar. However that does not mean I don't know or fully understand what parts 391 and 383 require and what some carriers have paid on account of not following them. Just something as innocuous sounding as those DQFs as required in part 391 got a carrier warned of large fines later on a followup FMCSA audit.

    Hey everyone!
Thanks so much for the replies, they were very useful. I did some more searching and found that I may only need to provide the last 5 years. FYI I am going to Prime.

You only need to provide 10 years history for past driving jobs, I think it's a Federal thing. They may hint and suggest 10 when you are in orientation, and filling out the second application. But it's only 5 for non driving jobs.

Being an under the table job they will probably ask for a letter from someone to verify what you were doing. That should be sorted out by the recruiter before you are accepted and shipped off to Missouri.

I’m wondering how you find your keyboard with your head so far up your rectum?

@skellr brought up a good point. You may be required to fill out a second application when you get to orientation. Make sure it's exactly the same information as in your first application or that's grounds to send you home. Make a copy of your first application and keep it with you as a reference.

    Emclem1307 and skellr Thank this.

No it is NOT, it's 3 years. Dang do people even read these posts. That section of 391 has been posted already.

For those drivers applying to operate a commercial motor vehicle as defined by part 383 of this subchapter, a list of the names and addresses of the applicant's employers during the 7-year period preceding the 3 years contained in paragraph (b)(10) of this section for which the applicant was an operator of a commercial motor vehicle, together with the dates of employment and the reasons for leaving such employment

Dang skippy. I tell people to make copies of ALL applications before leaving!

The reason this happens is those dang DQFs. The recruiting and safety depts don't communicate well with HR OR the applications are lost (don't laugh).

    Chinatown Thanks this.

I agree with Moose. When the prospective employer goes to verify the “under the table” job, they may very well end up with bupkis.....thats on that employer, not the employee that is accounting for their work history.

If an employer uses a 3rd party to do employment verifications, it just comes back as unverifible......and the driver does not get driving experience for the unverified employer, if it was a driving job. I had it happen to me....not a big deal imo.
