I just found an old post here. I had a driver tell me recently that he has a gear in that hole on the high side. That’s in a 95 year model truck. Tell me more about how this works.

The gear is there but the bearings are nowhere near robust enough for continued use at speed and the bearings are stressed if used in high range.CAXPT, Ruthless, 07shaker and 1 other person Thank this.

Question about the dunnage in between your load there. Do you put the wood there yourself? Or did the shipper put it there? Trying to figure out how that works. Thank you ahead of time.

You'll learn very quickly when it comes to securing loads, chains are usually good for equipment, and some steel products, however straps are less likely to damage freight so are more commonly used by drivers, ropes can also be used but are very rare, tarps only serve as weather protection and should not be used to secure a load, so strap, chain first then tarp.CAXPT Thanks this.

So with the dunnage in between loads like when they stack the load on to them. Do you bring that or do they have it and put it there as part of the load? Also how do you know when to use it? And when it comes to stopping forward movement do you have the bulkhead made with dunnage? And when should you use x straps? not sure if that’s what’s you call them but where you use the 2 inch straps as a x to stop forward movement. Sorry for all the questions. Really wanting to learn this. Thank you ahead of time.
