Ok....one on the left of shifter is for splitting. One in the front is going from your lower gears to your higher gears. So basically with the reverse what you are saying is if you are in L REVERSE and want to go H REVERSE, you can't just split it while in REVERSE, you need to put it in neutral, split it, and then put it back in reverse? I think I'm understanding it. Same thing with lower to higher gears. When I was in school and coming to a light, obviously I'd be downshifting but if the traffic was already moving and I needed a higher gear like 5, I had to take it out of gear and flip that fron button up otherwise I'd rev my RPM's too high not realizing I was still in the lower gears LOL

You have the right idea on reverse. Only one problem, you absolutely don’t want to move the range selector (the lever on the front of the shifter) when going in reveres. It makes a hell of a grinding noise. High range on most 18 speeds is pretty Dang fast. I use it occasionally when bobtail and I have to back way down to a trailer, but that’s about the only time I use it.D.Tibbitt, PoleCrusher, CAXPT and 1 other person Thank this.
