Hi, I would like to know where to find a decent job for someone who has 12+ years experience but only 5 months of verifible references. I freely admit that I have worked for too small of companies who went out of business. I am even willing to start at the bottom of the rung/ or start over basic entry salary to get my foot in the door. But I don't feel I should have to go back to school and start taking courses all over again any assistenance is greatly appreciated.
    Thank You for listening,

Depending on your location; post your location on the profile.

    Apply with these companies:

    Paschall Truck Lines
    Schneider
    Western Express

The choices are slim since you don't want schooling to accompany the job.

All your carriers of any size require you to have OTR experience in the past 3 years. Anything outside that is considered zero experience. They'll hire you but you'll have to take refresher training which includes going back out with a trainer until he signs you off. They do this because drivers get rusty and mainly because of the ever changing rules and regulations. They don't want you out there getting violations because one was unaware of a new rule. Plus they have to answer to the insurance companies who they can hire.

You could find an owner operator with a few trucks who doesn't have strict hiring requirements. There are a few companies like Watkins-Shepherd that require zero experience. Get your foot in the door somewhere OTR and get a year in and then you can call the shots.
