Thank you. It is treatable just gonna take a while. It's not life threatening just another bump in the road. From not taking care of myself.

Today is Monday March 4th. They called me and asked a couple questions about why I went out of business. I told em the truth. As of now I have been approved pending final determination. It could take up to three weeks for a decision.
I do start another job the 3rd week of April. And not filling as soon as I was out of work both helped in my favor.
My total benefits will be 14k. At 570.00 a week pretax. I do have to supply them with a pre hire letter. The new company is fine with that I will be picking it up today. If I go back in business my unemployment insurance will go up.

I have a friend thats a lawyer. I was with him once going to lunch and he stopped by the law firm that his girlfriend (at the time) worked at (she was a legal secretary). That firm just handled sexual harassment cases, and probably needless to say was all women.

I made an off-hand comment asking if I could sue myself for sexual harassment? Just as I was asking that, one of the firms lawyers happened to be walking up behind me (a VERY good looking lawyer I might add). She says "why, have you been touching yourself inappropriately?".

I ALMOST said "as often as I can" but for once in my life I bit my tongue :D

State of CA disqualifies you the second you become self employed, they refer you to SBA for a loan or other options

But do they mandate you must pay for unemployment insurance?

After going thru several over the phone interviews. Verifying I didn't have money stashed anywhere. I was approved for 6 weeks of employment with out having to look for work. After the six week I have to apply at at least 3 company's a week in a field I am most likely to get hired in. Benefits are 462.00 a week after fed and state taxes. 587 before. I do not qualify for school tuition. Or other financial help. Because I went out of business and should have planned better.
The process was easy thou. But lengthy. I got my 1st check two weeks ago. And start my job next Monday. This is my fault. I should have applied as soon as I was out of work. Not 90 days later. I hope this helps.

thanks for the insight. So if you have money stashed away you don't qualify for unemployment?

Let me get this right, you was once self employed(O/O), you went out of business due to medical reasons. You kept your equipment, hid your savings and filed for unemployment benefits. Is this correct so far ? So once you get well, you will go back in business (O/O) and move on …….. seriously, I’m asking, or correct me please….

I will say this. I’ve been paying into unemployment for almost 10 years. I’m an o/o but I’m down as an employee. I’m also an employee at the brokerage I own. I pay unemployment for that as well.

why shouldn’t I get to claim unemployment?
I never have but I think I might start. Last year I didn’t work November at all. And only 4 days in December. The farm I contract with had no loads for me so I stayed home.

sure I could have grabbed some crap paying load and kept money coming in. But since I pay all this money for unemployment benefits what the problem claiming them?

also what does my savings account have to do with claiming unemployment. Just because I have money in a saving or even a retirement account should have no bearing on the unemployment benefits that I pay for every two weeks!
