With so many train wrecks in such a short time, sabotage seems more likely... o_O

It sure seems that way… May we all know, trains, derail, and what not, but the magnitude of the derailments that are been happening lately seem to be larger than normal, but what I’ve seen in recent times…

I think it’s more likely the news is reporting every derailment as of late. It’s probably no more common than before. I mean RJ corman had made millions sending crews all over the country for clean up jobs and they are just one of many such companies.

Lay off majority of the car inspectors, rely on electronic wayside detectors, and increase train length from average 6,000 feet to 10,000 -13,000 feet. And the railroads want to go to 1 man in the cab running the train.
Now, to put that into a trucking perspective. The driver no longer does pre-trip or post trip. The weigh stations and highway patrolmen/women will be catching any truck defects.
And if you blow a tire, blow a turbo, or some other mechanical problem, dispatch tells you to keep on trucking cause the load has got to go.

But, to consider within that, is this:

"..... Derailment could mean as little as one wheel off the track ....."

It was one wheel that caught fire, and that’s all it took!

Has been multiple in Ohio since then. Some trains are now miles long. Running a engine in the middle of the train. 5 mile train with 4 engines, and one conductor, one engineer.

I live near a big hub. They lay those guys off left and right. Always hiring new employees. Like Trucking. Meat in the seat is the common term.
