It wont disintegrate the plastic covering on a fiberglass antenna or is it specifically made for that use ?

    Slowmover1 Thanks this.

It won't, the polymer used in the shrink tubing for antennas are not that fragile.

    Slowmover1 Thanks this.

The manufacture should of advertised the heck out of it during the big POLAR VORTEX, I know alot of truck stops up here in Iowa and Minnesota were completely sold out of anti-gel fuel additive. The truck making delivery probably forgot to add some and broke down with gel problem.

Anyone buy in person from Copper Electronics in Louisville? I will be in that area and they have 6' and 7' Skipshooter antennas, so that I can change out my Firestik on my 19 Freightliner.

My Uniden 980 SSB acts the same way. I can only adjust the local RF gain. I guess the distant RF is a constant factor. I think the 980 needs a peak and tune by a professional because it doesn't seem to receive as well as my Uniden Pro 520XL

With others showing the same behavior, maybe it is logical that Uniden is assuming that if you're DXing, you want the RF gain as high as possible. After all, there's squelch too. Maybe?

There is tolerances in all manufacturing processes and it is known that radio manufactures have to comply with FCC regulations so they have to leave a margin for error which alot of times ends up with a radio not putting out what it should. That's where alignment, peaking and tuning comes into play along with your $$$$$. The trouble comes with the shortage of qualified technicians in a given area because of CB loosing it's popularity. I know I want to run all that I am legally allowed and I want my radio to receive all it can.
