Everything in life is political. I'm beyond caring, at this point. Everyone else in this thread can talk politics but I can't? Whatever. It's against the rules to quote politicians but it's fine to defend them, is basically the vibe.

Politics
Do Not Pass/Pass With Care. The politics forum is not moderated. The password to access Politics is: thickskin -
I did nothing but cite quotes and state facts, with zero bias, and it's all relevant to this thread topic.
Only I get called out, not anymore who defends the politicians.
If the mods are going to be heavily biased and only go after certain things, they should come right out and admit it. -
Discussing politics in the open forum always leads to bickering, name calling etc. Doesn’t matter who you shake your *Pom Poms* for.
We are also given tools to report political posts.
Personally I just like trolling those who don’t get it
You’re also wrong about everything in life being political.
Some people just make everything in life about politics.
Anyway, wasn’t calling you out. Was just a kind hint reminder since you’re new. The rest of us already know the risks. -
Amazing, just amazing.
Sirscrapntruckalot and Milr72 Thank this. -
guys, I'm currently out and about. I will provide what I think is the most logical route once I get settled in tonight.

to the OP,
get in touch with your local vocational rehab rehabilitation office. Tell them that you would like to make an appointment to see if you qualify for services would you more than likely do if you're on Social Security for disability like me. You will have to undergo a series of test most likely psychological and your biggest hurdle will be overcoming the DOT physical part which is becoming stricter and stricter.
most companies are pretty picky on what medications you can take. I know for sure, most companies are gonna be pretty picky without a job history. So more than likely are gonna have to work for a bottom feeder such as Swift and western express. Swift is not all that bad as people make them out to be. I would choose Swift and call up the recruiter. I can give you a name in the PM if you want me to? Send me a PM with your phone number and I'll be more than happy to talk to you.FullMetalJacket, 88 Alpha, tscottme and 2 others Thank this. -
also one last thing, when you go to vocational rehabilitation, tell them it's your dream to drive a truck and explain your heart out. Also saw a form called the FASFA. You can do that online. Just google it. chances are you might be eligible for grants. Visit your local Truck Driving School and you want one that has one on one instruction. Take my advice when I say that and see if there is a Sage Truck Driving School nearby. Post below if you need any help or send me a PM

hi guys,
I'm sorry I'm late in responding. back in 2010 I did a six month stand driving OTR with this owner operator. Because I was not mature enough to handle being away from my family, I didn't last. In my opinion, having been away OTR, it takes a toll on you both mentally and phyiscally.
you have to ask yourself before you get to this profession, are you a loner meaning someone who can survive days alone in a cab or do you want to team drive with somebody and risk getting into fights and altercations inside a 70 ft.² cab.
That's what my main issue with my boss who shall be nameless. your personalities have to match. I'm a dominant type of person. I did not do well with him because he is the same way. if I had to do it all over again which I really do, I would go with Swift and do refrigerated.
whenever you do decide to try out Trucking, be transparent about who you are meaning do not lie. Lying is generally not the best policy because if you get caught in a lie, it will come back to bite you very hard. Trust me I know several people who have had this happen and you hear all the time people asking for advice.
it all depends on where you live on what opportunities open up to you. no offensive my sister is reading this, but we live in Florida and central Florida to be specific is growing but in my opinion not enough to support more than the carriers going in. You have a lot of freight going in and out of Central Florida but getting out is the main issue.
so my questions are, where do you live? Are you a dominant person and do you get along with other people? If you're the team player type, or do not know, try taking a personality test. These will determine which carriers I feel our best bets for you because honestly, I know what they do at orientations like the back of my hand because I know several people who drive trucks.
I'm going to add to this later as I think of information.FullMetalJacket, tscottme and Lonesome Thank this.
