Trucker/soldier in an office?? You will be bored out of your mind!! And, not make as much $$. This coming from a trucker/police officer. Kind of the same... Maybe you can stand people. I prefer as little contact as possible and don't mind the days I'm on the road most of the day.

Good info. Bet it's close to the same here. They also pay extra for hazmat. If he averages $1.50 mile, does that mean they pay percentage of the load? I do prefer that over mileage pay.

hehehehe I have been thinking about it a lot and at the end of the day while is difficult to find good drivers having that opportunity to work as a dispatcher and picking the freight for your trucks without having the big expenses is something I want to do, plus all the time away from my truck doing military training(some far this year 8 weeks and im already scheduled for 3 more weeks of schooling by the end of the year) its really taking a toll on my profits like every trucker knows if those wheels aint turning you aint making money. me and my father who is a career truck driver have a little bet going if I successfully retire from the road by the age of thirty (im 26 btw) he will grow his beard and play santa claus for the kids every xmas at both the unit xmas party and the family one!

Not really. But to me Pinnacle is worth giving a shot. I have been talking to them back and forth and:

    - they promised 75% of load rate
    - hazmat $35 extra; rare though
    - reefer $0 extra
    - detention after 2 hours
    - dock to dock and railyard to dock to deliveries
    - they currently have 20 trucks

They are also promising abundance of loads, and at least 2k-2.5k per week after fuel, working 5 days a week, which to me is a bit too good to be true. As soon as I am too tired of OTR, I am thinking of signing on with them. They checked my record and ready to hire.

The numbers sound about right for Intermodal, at least in Chicago.

I am a little relieved then. I would also greatly appreciate your answers to these:

    - About how many hours a day do you have to put in to get 2k-2.5k?

    - What is the portion of your check from detention and extra stops?

    - Also how do you make sure the company is not lying to you about the rate? Do companies show rate confirmation or something?

    PO Stoner Thanks this.

After fuel, 2-2.5k should be an easy 5 day, 5 run week, about 10-12 hrs per day. If you decide to not go easy and do 6-8 runs in 5 days you'd be at 3-3.5k....week ends add 2-3 runs so 4-5 k is doable....

If your on % you should get a copy of the rate confirmation.....if they don't want to give it...move on to another Co......

In the co. I'm leased on to, detention after 2 hrs at $35 per, Hazmat I get $100 per load (extra).....tri axle work I get $75 per load and chassis split is $50.....

The above numbers (accesorial) vary from co to co.....

This is golden info, thanks! I do think companies in Kansas City don't pay as much, especially accessorial.

Do you know if your company runs out of Kansas City?
