I kinda watch the 359 Enthusiast parts & trucks page on FB.. I've seen boxs on there often ..
If it was me I would look for a set that have the 1450 torque rating .. thats just me though .. its getting harder & harder to find somebody that knows their way around those boxs anymore .. I only know enough to be Is dangerous..
I can tell ya what happens when you over torque them and what it sounds like ..lolGt020, Oxbow, Hammer166 and 1 other person Thank this. -
The 1241 is a heavier twin countershaft auxiliary that’s more desirable for the higher hp engines. I found one in a KW last year but owner wouldn’t commit to selling it. Found a W900A with a 8V71 4x4 setup, haven’t got to really look closely at it though…. -
Cattleman84, Last Call and Oxbow Thank this.

I've got a 1241 in that 85 ...359 that got laid over .. my plans were to use it in the other 85 that I've been building .OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this. -
If not then it starts a death scream like a locker room full of teenage girls ..and the shifter starts shaking like a cat crapping razor blades for about 45 seconds then you'll hear a pop.. the shifter goes limp and it gets quiet..And it's all over but the crying
Don't ask me how I know....lolGt020, Hammer166, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 1 other person Thank this. -
That looks to be cast iron. Dependent on where exactly its cracked a good welder could probably weld it up for you. Ive welded a few gearboxes myself in the past... One is still in my '72 F-250. To do it properly it would require that you disassemble the entire gearbox though, as the casting needs to be preheated to about 400 degrees.
Last Call Thanks this. -
