Then I guess it wont matter. Cant get 4g outside metro areas for the most part anyways... Thanks for the info guys.
you might be surprised, I go into some areas where I think I wouldnt get a decent connection and still see 4g and sometimes LTE, I know ATT throttles me after about 5 gigs down to .5mb/s but I just start downloads while im driving or when asleep and always downloading something so I have stuff for my down times, I use between 20-40gb a month, last month I used 28gb
I use up to 10 gb/month on the old verizon "global email" plan which is unlimited global data. I've never been throttled. It is $64.99 a month and they got rid of it about 2-3 years ago.
Wow you all do some serious downloading. I might use 4 gigs a month. Have you considered changing your movie viewing habits? That's what's eating you up. When do you have time to drive? I don't think you can get more than 4-5 gigs out of anyone. Some are even lower than that. I read yesterday on T-Mobile's prepaid once you used your time up you can buy a gig for $10. I've had Sprint and Verizon Contracts and a Straight Talk Prepaid. I think I'm gonna try T-Mobile next as we now have service here where I live. I looked at their coverage map and it's just as good as Verizons. There are starting to fill in the blank areas. I like the freedom of prepaid with technology constantly changing.
I normally find time to watch something, each day I watch at least an episode of a show which normally is like 43min, when i have more time I watch a movie. You have to take a 10 daily so even if I use a hour for a shower etc then I still have some extra time to watch something. A show runs me 300-500mb each download, a movie all depends but I try to stick to 1gb range for each one. Since I have been going home pretty much weekly I keep a list of movies and stuff I want to download then I download them all in a night when at home which saves me some of my non thrott
I run netflix on occasion. Even a mediocre 4G (non lte) connection will stream lower resolution content. I also use Millinicom, 60 gig (Verizon) LTE hotspot device. I've streamed movies (netflix) in places that most would be surprised at.
Seems a bit steep to have internet on the road, I would rather get one of the cheaper companies but until ATT cuts me off im still using my unlimited with them.
its like most carriers, there are spots that are hit and miss especially in the midwest. I am dedicated now so I stay in CA and always have decent coverage. I download between 20-50gb a month but im grandfathered into the old unlimited plan. As for coverage verizon is the best hands down but more expensive. I have been with ATT since 2006 and wont give up my unlimited.
I've been Using Desktop/ Laptop Opera Browser for years, So naturally when Opera Mobile introduced "off road " past few weeks for android, Have a 10gb data plan. Only used about 600mb in 18 days so far. watching Youtube and forums. Probably going to down grade my data plan next month. Will save about $20 . I've used over the 10gb plan each month. Now it's a fraction. Off road goes through Opera servers, Your IP address is hidden, It's a perk but don't be a fool thinking can do harm with it. Worth a look. http://www.opera.com/mobile/android
