Most decent phones have a hotspot built in, so I don't see any need to add a device if you're phone is 4g. I've always run a phone and a device as I've never had a 4g phone and need to talk and browse at the same time to book loads.

suffice it to say. you don't have service anywhere you go. in oklahoma. the only service i had was along the toll road. serfice is sketchy in montana and texas. nothing in the dakotas. nothing in the top of maryland and west virigina. but as soon as you cross the pennsylvania state line. it comes on.
haven't been in the southeast. -
Sprint is the way to go

I have Verizon 4G using a Samsung Stratosphere tethered to my laptop.
I've had nothing but frustration with this setup.
It seems that about every 5 minutes the internet connection just stops working. You have to wait around for it to come back on. Forget watching a youtube video.
I don't know if it's the phone or Verizon.... or a combination of both, but I hate it.
I've had the same issues in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.
