Best explanation would be If it is in a curve then someone coming up on you on your left wouldn't see the vehicle on the shoulder.....

Did you ever consider blaming the jerk that didn't properly pull off of the road on the shoulder. Granted sometimes it's an emergency and you have to stop, but then again there are people that stop on the shoulder in non emergency situations in the dumbest spots. Pulling off right after a blind corner is a perfect example of what a lot of jerks do on a consistent basis
