I dont have a problem with tailgaters when i'm behind the wheel of the CMV. Usually i slam on the brakes when i approach a yellow light with someone drafting behind me. :biggrin_25523:

Some people deserve a swift kick in the behind to wake up from la-la-land. OP got a ticket for reckless driving, yet he points the finger at his employer for not being able to advance in the industry. Yes, we deserve a 2nd chance, but only after we learn from a mistake. Some people can't learn from a mistake and will keep doing the same shenanigans over and over again. This is why our industry is not an industry of 2nd chances.

I may have read it wrong but the way I understand his post he called JB to inquire about a job and was told he wouldnt be touched for 5 years, not that he worked for them and didnt get fired. If he worked for JB and called them to inquire about a different position but they said no but carry on with your current position I would agree with your post.

Did you all know that, at highway speeds, you are required to have AT LEAST a football field's length between you and the other vehicle in front of you? Did you know that, if you have less than that length, it's considered following to close...or "tailgating?" Now, how many of you super truckers always keep your minimum 100 yards from the truck or car in front of you? You know when your coming up on that slower truck but you have to wait for the cars to pass you so you can pass the truck. You mean to tell me that you hit those brakes before you bust that 300 feet mark?

Please move on with your "o holier than thou attitudes."

how do they expect us to leave a foot ball field gap if they'll try to fill a gap about the size of a honda civic. i got into it with a town car coming out of NYC on the cross bronx, i was in 6th gear so i was no where near 35mph and i pushed him a good 40ft before i realized i was using him as a plow. thought i was rubbing up on the curb the entire time.. those following distance rules are only in a perfect world.

i remember awhile back there was a huge debate about how long it takes to stop a truck, i was labeled the super trucker because i said i could get mines stop'd in less then two foot ball fields while everyone else swore it took a mile. but no one could tell me when was the last time they seen a mile long skid mark from a truck trying to stop.

It's frustrating. I know...I think a janitor would puke if he saw my dirty record. I've had speeding tickets and two wrecks...one due to mechanical failure mind you. I decided to clean up the stupid act of speeding...OK well sorta...and other junk. So I had to wait till I was 22 before I could drive trucks. Last speeding ticket I had gotten has just fallen off that 3 year mark.

Tailgating...sheesh. if I get too close I just back up till I'm at least 5-6 seconds away, and pass if I'm clear to do all. I've tailgated once...in a traffic jam :p

Last I checked it was 3 seconds no matter the vehicle, albeit in a truck, a bit close.

You still have a job......that's great. Now most companies only look at a 3 year mvr from the application date and the ones that look at a 5 year will let you know. Depending on how the rest of your mvr looks will be the determining factor in how bad this unsafe conviction is on your record. Drive safely!!!
