We're dealing with some pretty serious flooding here near the Missouri River. Many roads are closed, and because of that her commute has doubled and may even quadruple. She's now staying with family during the week, so I need to be home every day to take care of dogs, chickens and alpacas.

I parked my reefer and signed on (not leased on) with home improvement DC nearby. I still run under my Authority, insurance and so on. This stuff is drop and hook and I'm loving it. No waiting for loading or unloading. Pretty efficient set-up. The way they're talking about these floods, I may be on this gig until Fall at the soonest.

Wish you well gears. Do they pay well? I get a call every other week from the Menards DC here to see if I am interested.

I just found out the hard way about the closed roads. Heading south on I29 until I hit the closed sign at IA mp 10. Glad I didn't fully follow Roehl's routing since it had be going on IA 2 west of I29. I was going to East St. Louis from Norfolk NE so I didn't have to go too far out of the way. It's just it would have been nice if Roehl's routing had compensated for the closure.

I run the areas around the Missouri river every week. I check the Iowa and Nebraska road condition wesite on my iPhone when planning routes, so the flooding hasn't been a big problem for me..... yet.

Gears, is the Menards out of Shelby who you are pulling for? I go in there once in a while and have given thought about pulling for them.

Yep, that'd be the one, Shelby IA.
After being used to waiting and waiting to get my reefer loaded and unloaded, this DC drop and hook stuff is a breath of fresh air.
Like I told BBBill, they don't pay the greatest, but I'm home every night and that's worth quite a bit to me right there.
