They will whine about their rates being low, “(EVIL BROKERS FAULT)” but when an organized group does something to raise their “rates” it is now Un American! What they fail to realize is if the Auto Workers get a good raise, it doesn’t lower our pay rates. Yes I know the price of automobiles and nearly everything else will go up, but they will regardless of whether the employees get a good raise or not.

Drivers are awfully proud of making a living that amounts to less and less each year.

If you lot were actually doing well, the price of cars wouldn't freak you out so much.

Inflation has a curious effect on capitalism wage slaves: you can look back and see how much more money you're making than when you were a kid, but...it doesn't have the buying power it used to.

I was up at Torrence, tonight. Steady flow of logistics trailers and saw some parking lots loading. My dispatch up there says suppliers and Ford are scheduling, as if nothing looms.

Former GM dealership employee here. My last two vehicle purchases have been a Honda and a Nissan. Not union built. I will not support the UAW in any way, ever!!!!

Why would they not keep things flowing ? Production can speed up or slow down but stopping should be avoided, much like an oil well. Any strike, if it happens is not likely to last long. My bet is it get averted at last moment.

I dont have an issue with the uaw or the big 3 ... its the greed of both sides that puts me off and it's easy to say because I bought a near new silverado before the covid that will last the rest of my life .
The younger generations just getting started can't afford that stuff or they risk bankruptcy if they do .

I feel bad for the young mechanics these days. When I started buying tools 15 years ago a guy could be well equipped with a decent size tool box for $10-$12k. These days a set of impact sockets off the truck are over $500. A new roller cabinet is over $15k these days.

    It's nothing to have 100k in tools today.Scanner 1-6k just for starts,kind of necessary w today's electronics.

The general, unwritten rule is mechanics should supply everything up to 1/2" drive and 2" wrenches, along with basic electrical tooling like a multimeter. Shops generally supply everything above and beyond that.
