    You should be applying for local positions right now. You'll see a lot of people posting that you need 6 months or a year OTR before you can go local. That's not entirely true. There are local companies that will hire new drivers. It never hurts to apply. The worst that will happen is they tell you to come back when you have more experience or.....they bring you in, interview you and offer you a job. When I came back to trucking after 10 years out if it I took an OTR job. I was applying for local positions from day one. In just under 3 months of driving OTR I found a local job. Now I am home with my girl and son. I go OTR occasionally but it's never more than 2 nights in a row and I can choose not to take the OTR loads without any repercussions. Best of luck to you driver! I know exactly how you feel. I missed my kid a lot when I was gone. Keep a positive attitude! You will find something better!
