They may be good and I'll take your word for that, but they are dammed expensive. If you're not on the WIA program they want $5500 for the training, which is higher than just about anywhere...over twice as expensive as any of the community college programs (Calhoun, Bevill, Wallace) and they all have 160 hour programs.

I dont know where you are getting your info.. but their rates are about 3600-3900.

Respect... I would recommend ATDT to you. They will show you everything you need to know, and while some of the instructors joke around, they KNOW what they are talking about. Get the state to pick up the training. Then get working so you dont need the state anymore! Thats my approach!

They work very closely with Central Refrigerated, TMC, H O Wolding, Werner, Schneider, and a host of others.

I truly couldnt have gotten my CDL without them.

Darryl and his staff will tell you straight up the truth, without trying to "get your money" plus... I kinda like Moulton.... I might move here.... :biggrin_25525:

I got it from whoever answered the phone when I called yesterday morning...it was a guy, didn't catch name. I know he said $5500 because I repeated it back and made mention that it was twice as high as Calhoun and he replied that they are worth it because they (ATDT) help you find a job. Like Calhoun doesn't. I'll call again tomorrow because I have heard pretty good things of their training and would be interested, but I'm on my own finance wise so I have to count those pennies. :)

Got a pre hire for KLLM today. So now as it stands I am trying to decide between central and KLLM. But I think Central just decided it for me. Central wants $100 for orientation (registration) which will be reimbursed to me after orientation....

KLLM from what I have heard gives you $225 for orientation.

I know it may not seem like much... but right now... it is. When I start working then it wont be... but right now I simply cannot afford to work for Central. :-(

update on my DOT state tests.....

Went today and took my state tests....

passed the pre trip with 100/104 (missed the horns, and forgot to turn the engine off after the parking brake test)

passed my skills test (though I was on pins and needles on the 45 degree alley dock, (I had a bad set up, and wasnt familiar with how to correct it, but I got past it with 4 pull ups) NOT MY BEST.

failed the road test, (this is what happened.) Started off, was silky smooth on my shifting. handled all the turns and corners well. but then I had to stop at an intersection. I was the first vehicle, so I stopped before the white line. light turned green, I was in 4th, started going (and the voice in my head said shift to 5th before you cross into the intersection), but I didnt because I though the examiner would think I shifted in the intersection....

so I am in 4th.... clear the intersection.... tac is at about 1500-1600.... so I need to shift soon. double clutch, try to put it into 5th... and GRRRRRRRRNNNNNDDD..... release clutch, rev engine to restore rpm, clutch, 5th... GRRRRRRNNNNNNDDDDD..... I need to get in a gear before I go the length of the truck...... try 4th again since at least I will be back in control..... GRRRRNNNNNNDDDDDD.....

    my mind goes blank.

I stopped.... jammed it into 4th...and off I go

    _________________________________________________________

looking back on it... after I failed 5th (due to high rpm and speed) I should have switched in high, put it in 6th, and hoped the examiner wouldnt notice.

I have never had a problem with shifting...... but this threw me through a loop due to me being nervous about the test, and never having had that problem....

I retest on Tuesday.... and that WONT happen again....

yeah.... but you know what they say... hind sight is 20/20....

the examiner even stated "I was surprised that happened, you have been very smooth on upshifting and downshifting this whole time"

oh well.... Tuesday I am getting it nailed down
