Thinking about buying a slightly used Rand McNally 710 and was wondering if you can purchase updates and how much it would cost to do so. Is used a bad idea? There is a big price difference.

Right now a Brand new TN 730 is $299 at Pilot/Flying J. Has Lifetime maps updates free of charge, a 1 yr warranty and a Good repair/replacement plan. You won't get that with a used unit, bennies are only to registered owner.

i'm perfectly happy with my samsung note two 4.7 inch screen and copilot. i don't like my face lit up by a 7 inch screen.

If you're in a truck the Rand McNally 520 (or 720) will be the best $200 bucks you'll ever spend. It's a truck gps not a social or grocery getter gps. When your phone has no service all those phone based routing apps are useless.

However Drag Routing would be cool if my 520 had it. the 520 screen is kinda small for that I think but the 720 would be ok.

I bought a factory refurbished Rand 720 from a seller on ebay for $209.99 with free lifetime updates.

It came with all accessories - just without the factory box...

Also registered it and downloaded the latest updates.

Now, need to put it to use soon...

Yes Thank you Mark. Typing accurately on moving truck sometimes causes spelling errors. .and exclusions. . Lol
