Not sure about your state, but in Missouri it’s no different than getting a new license.. Written, inspection, skills and road test. Good luck!

    Are you driving now?
If you get a CDL-A Permit, V3 Transportation will hire you.

You will need to complete the new entry level driver training requirements for an upgrade which includes instruction by a training provider in the classroom, range and on road before being allowed to take the skills and road test at your state exam site.

Some states require you to take the ELDT training beofrw getting your permit while others allow you to get the permit then the training. Either way you will need to apply for a learner's permit, pass the combination vehicle knowledge exam, complete training and then take the skills and road test in a class A vehicle.
