Hey Mike, I'm doing upgrade this week too, so I probably have seen you around.
I wouldn't bother with a GPS. A car GPS works just well. When all you would need it too is to fix bad directions to receivers/shippers and for an overall mileage counter.

I started In June as a psd without any knowledge on how to drive trucks. Finished TNT last week, so yeah about 4 months. Thanks

You probably have seen me. I will be at campus inn at 7. Good advice -
Ya I'm sure I'll see ya tomorrow for classes. I'll be in an under armor hoody and a golfer looking hat.

Just to be clear. As a COMPANY DRIVER, you cannot just charge anything and everything to the truck. Arrangements have to be made with your Fleet Manager. A limit will be set.
Also, as a COMPANY DRIVER, don't assume your FM will set you up automatically with "small increments taken from your check". Again, arrange that with your FM. They can do it, just don't assume they will.
There have been many a driver (lease include) that have been hit with the entire bill on their next paycheck/settlement because they assumed or someone told them they will automatically take it out in increments. -
And, thinking back, were about three of them paid? In other words, did it take you about 4-5 weeks before your pay started?
-
You're on the payroll when you get your CDL... for pay to commence you have to be available for dispatch, which means on a truck with a trainer.
-
Yes, you can charge to your truck. that list they give you for the stamp and locks and such all can be charged.
Granted I haven't bought anything else in there. -
Sure you can. CHECK WITH YOUR FM FIRST IF YOU DON'T WANT UNEXPECTED SURPRISES.
-
Right. And that takes about...4 - 5 weeks, right?
-
I've seen it done in as little as 13 days and as much as about 2 weeks. It's 100 hours of drive time.
