Once you install the clutch on the trans and stab it, you will never go back to putting it on the flywheel first.

Yup i know its not gonna be a walk in the park but im an #### good at working on cars and trucks. Trans will be a first. All that work you did was a pain but you KNOW #### well it was done right and you did extra work while you were in there. The rewards are endless. Ill have quetions for all of you soon once i yank things out

Genuine Eaton reman or one of the trans shop rebuilds? How do you like the 20918? Feel just like the rest of them?

The 16, 18 and 20 all use the same gears, the difference is in the oiling. The 22 does have stronger gears and you can actually see the difference because of the way they're treated. That being said, the 16/18/20 will take way more torque than what they're rated for. I've ran 4000+ through my 18918b and it still shifts like it's brand new.

As far as a clutch, I've used Eaton, RhinoPac and Lipe and they all work well when used within a few hundred pounds of their max torque rating. Shift them hard with high torque though and they all leave you waiting for a tow.

thank you for the additional confirmation on this. I was kinda curious why high torque trucks were leaving the factory with 16918 vs 18918

Don’t forget the transmission cooler lines. They get brittle and collapse inside, specially when there moved around while R/R the transmission and/or clutch. Also did the fuel lines on mine.

hi dave. my lines started leaking last year and i replaced both. They were hard as rocks. I couldnt eve remove part of a line becuase it was so stiff going trough frame crossmemeber so i had to chop the line with shears. I will be changing fuel tank line while trans is out as well as brake foot valve since t will be a walk in a park with trans out. Hell alot of things will be cleaned up

When I had my transmission rebuilt, the first thing the rebuilder said when he returned the transmission to me was, “Change the transmission cooler lines if you want a warranty”. He then followed and explained why and what happens.

I bought mine off of a guy who rebuilds them on his spare time after work
It feels good. It shifts really smooth a little too smooth for me lol. None the less it feels the same as my other trucks with just standard 10 and 13 speeds. Nothing out of the ordinary that I could tell.
