Ha.. around here you have to work the docks and drive part-time for nearly 10 years before you even get into package. Then its usually 10-15 before you move to feeders. Never heard of a feeder driver coming off the street in these parts!
My 2 best friends both work there... one is part-time package and the other is hub manager. Both have been there for 10 years. I know of too many package drivers addicted to painkillers from knee and back problems associated with that job. Also, most are on adderall to stay keyed up and work at the pace demanded. It pays out the ### though if you can tolerate the severe micro management!
