UPS called today for feeder driver position

pathetic to think any truck driver with a CDL would have concerns about a 10 speed.

You should hide your face in embarrassment since you don't know how to read. People like you are the reason truckers get stereotyped as uneducated. Try reading the post before commenting big shot.

I am currently doing feeders for NYC/NJ metro area out of saddle brook nj

So far so good- only negative thing I can say is the meadowlands hub is unbelievable - it is like a city full of ups trucks - they have parking garages with three levels where you p/u your trailer.

Other than that it’s cool- money is fantastic. OT is $$$$$$$ worth it.

 

I work as a feeder driver for UPS and if you grind the gears a few times no its not an instant fail. Now if you end up grinding and the truck comes to a complete stop then yes your gonna fail. Just remember to double clutch when going through the test. Don't run over any curbs and make sure you use the turn signals when turning or switching lanes. Make sure you stop before the white chubby line during the road course. Ive seen a few applicants fail this test due to being complacent or trying to be a hot-shot. The one thing that UPS wants is a SAFE driver who is professional.

When you show up for the road test make sure you are clean shaven and have a professional demeanor. If you have tattoos cover them up. When the tester is giving you directions pay attention to detail. Don't be afraid to ask questions and just relax. This is the pinnacle job for a company truck driver. You will work some odd hours and have to deal with a ton of rules. But the payoff after 4 years of paying dues is well worth the aggravation you will endure.

 

A young lady who graduated from my CDL school was able to score a UPS job here in Louisville. She told my instructor that the tester placed a cup of water on the dash. If any water spilled, you failed, in addition to missing blinkers, shifting in an intersection, not stopping behind the fat line, etc., etc.

Talk about distracted driving... one would be staring at that #### cup the whole time.
