There are feeder runs during the day. But it all depends on the terminal you apply at. Some guys wait many years to have a daytime run.
UPS called today for feeder driver position

I’d be willing to do night runs until I can get a day run. It’s worth it to me for ups but I’m not sure if I’m willing to put that time in at R&L just to get Day runs because that’s not where I want to retire.
LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
No matter the schedule, UPS is definitely worth it down the road. The first couple years can be shaky. But after that, it's easy street.

Yes that’s what I’m hearing all across the board and I surely hope I get the chance to work there one day to hopefully create a financially secure future for my family and ILtlAnonymous Thanks this.

All depends on what your willing to sacrifice. You can have a normal life working the vampire shift. Dinner is basically for breakfast and vice versa.
My advice is keep a good nest egg in savings before you leap. It can be rough until you get some time in with a company. Not just UPS but any LTL in general. That way your safe in a slow season.LtlAnonymous Thanks this. -
I had the luxury of a wife with a good job. Definitely some money in savings as well, but wifey got us through the really slow parts. LolBanker and SidewaysBentHalo Thank this.

That always helps. Daughters been bored since end of school last week. Told her she needs to talk to her mom about finding a rich boyfriend since I'm to busy juggling finances. Lol had some unexpected medical expenses.
Good news for her though she’ll be staying at her aunties next week while i get laid up in a hotel for the week to cover someones vacation out of town sounds like. Gf talked about running the road next week and i told her to enjoy her darn motorcycle she just got a few months ago. Doubt she’ll listen.Banker and LtlAnonymous Thank this. -
I don’t want to rain on your parade, but you are highly unlikely to have a Monday thru Friday bid job in feeders during the day for many, many, many, many years. The best you can hope for in less than 20 years usually is a city pick up job or yard job starting Monday afternoon working 12 hours 5 days a week. You may occasionally cover mon-fri, day jobs when on call. I spent 10 years in feeders at the Louisville Air Hub before I finally went to carhaul to have a day job. UPS is a great place to work and make money, but if you want a great schedule don’t hold your breath. When I left 7 years ago I had 200 people below me on the boards at SDFAS and Louisville Centennial Ground Hub (both locations are one seniority list) and the best I could get for a bid was 5 mileage runs with a start day of Thursday-Monday at 1500. One of my best friends is still there with almost 20 years seniority and starts at 1800 Monday-Friday. I made killer money, but dinner at home was only on my 2 days a week off.
PS thank you for your service as my first career was a professional firefighter also.Last edited: Jun 14, 2019
