I hear it's good. But I wouldn't really talk about it in too much detail on a site like this, if I knew anything.

What is the big deal about UPS Parcel? I just don't get it and why people break there neck to work there. Is the money really all that much after you factor in all that time being low man on the board.
I know every company has there policies, but there's policies and then there's UPS Parcel who's in a league all of there own.
God bless you people for doing it and usually I'm not one to say this or be like that, but I couldn't do it, work under those conditions with UPS and there rules.misterG and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
That might be how parcel is, maybe. -

I've done several "Peak Seasons" at UPS for extra $$$, they pretty much left me alone. BUT...lol...they don't want to lose anyone with a pulse during that time, even if you only work a day a week. Not sure I could put up with the BS on a consistent basis.
LtlAnonymous, Bob Dobalina and Mike2633 Thank this. -
Pintlehook Thanks this.

Does UPS parcel use contractors during "peak season" ie Swift, Werener or I had read Mercer did work for them.

Feeders at UPS is a piece of cake. But then again I might just be used to it as I have been doing it for going on 7 years.
Package cars is a different story. Them guys are on a lot more pressure than us.
As for being a bottom guy and Mike asks is it worth it....this all depends on where you're at. If you're at a larger hub in a big metropolitan area, as a bottom guy you will work. It will get slow from February to April/May. But you still get great health insurance, and should have enough hours to be vested in your pension.
Having to wait 4 years to hit top rate might seem rough but 3rd year rate is $25-25.50 an hour. That is right there with most LTL companies and most of them don't pay OT after 8 hours like UPS does. Some of them don't pay OT after 50 hours if they pay OT at all. Then add in the health insurance that costs you nothing out your check, but is also superior when it comes to coverage, I think it's worth it.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 27, 2017
