Can you change locations in the union? Keep your seniority?

That's all murky water to me. Seems like seniority policies are dependent upon Locals or supplement language with regard to different lists of feeder/package/etc, but from what I could tell, going to another barn you'd always end up going to the bottom of whatever list you end up on.

You can not. Once you are in a building you are locked to it forever.

As a perm. FT employee you have to quit and reapply to another location? Wow.

Yes sir. I probably would have tried to stick it out a lil longer when I moved back to Florida if it were possible. I've only ever seen one guy get a transfer. He was a pre loader that moved to Alaska and got a transfer for school. Technically you can transfer for school but I've only ever seen them approve it that one time.

I went to bed shortly after reading your response and thought to myself, "No way, this guy is FOS" (no disrespect intended lol) under the impression that the union would have put the ability to transfer or relocate in there for their members.

Imagine my surprise after scouring their current contract just now to find you are indeed correct, that there is no right afforded by the union to transfer, short of either:

    • Being the spouse of an active military member that must relocate as a result of the military member having to relocate.
    • Being a part time employee that is relocating due to educational reasons

On this they certainly do, internal transfer to anywhere in the country is a matter of going on the internal network, applying for it and waiting for the "offer" letter to come through. They'd go by list seniority, then if no body on that respective list applied, company seniority of the location applied to, and then if no one applied for it there, go by company seniority of national internal applicants..
