Does the Rand have a micro usb charge connection like the Garmin? If so, couldn't you just use one of those booster batteries for cell phones to insulate against the voltage drop and just leave that inline so it charges all the time?
I know my Garmin has to be off power longer than a normal engine start before a warning pops up. Even then it has a ten second timer. When power is restored, the message just closes itself.

I think that happens with mine too but I have mine on a power stabiliser that I keep in my bag, I just plug it in and don't worry about it. I don't know if you can use one of them boosters, it may be worth a try.

That is a good idea for the Rand, it is a mini USB - the T shaped one, but it doesn't help the Sirius.
I have found that if I have the sirius playing, or even on pause on a recording then it will not glitch. But if I have it on the channel I am recording it sometimes glitches and stops the recording.
I like to listen to the delayed shows anyway so I can FF past the commercials, just like the home DVR.

I had an issue like this in a company truck I drove for 5 yrs. It only happened when a battery was getting weak. Was a day cab so started and stopped daily. With in a few months and come winter I would need a battery. Now my 2009 pete will do it only if the lights inside were left on and the low voltage cut out kicks in.
Pmracing Thanks this.
