Yes I can. I can weather the finances and lean spots for a bit. But if the end result is leaving my soon to be topped out position as well as forfeiting seniority and stability for a seasonal job that never converts, I will have thrown away a $100k job for nothing.
Before anyone calls BS on that salary, attached from my payroll app my last 2 weeks.Attached Files:

Then it doesn't make sense to jump ship for your scenario. Lol
My reference was more for those eyeballing from the outside and I'm in agreement that the progression is worth it for light at the end of the tunnel. I had that same fear last year as seasonal and then going back this year thinking it was another temp gig. They dropped it like it was hot and offered a spot due to movement and other things being implemented needing more bodies.McUzi and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
OK what's up with the 2-3 week background check???
That's what they told me
I have cash reserves but.... I'm already laid off going on ten days, I *really* don't wanna burn thru half my savings!FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Holy crap! Did you ask them to verify that time frame again just to make sure they didn't misspeak by accident? That sounds nuts. Granted I started working with UPS in 99 but even then I remember it was like a week or two from the time I was unofficially hired to my start date, I would think things would be faster now. I went to a interview yesterday at noon at trans am for a shop job and they called me at 9am this morning with a offer, I would think everyone could do it that fast. Hang in there tho, the money you make will make it all worth it in the end!Northeasterner Thanks this.

If your laid off is unemployment unavailable? Would make sense to be on it for the short duration while in transition. Its not fun being on someone else's time clock. Hopefully they’ll get you in for physical and do paperwork in the meantime. So that way you can start not to long after.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Yeah. It's... weird
I went to get drug tested today, got the physical and new med certificate. I sincerely hope UPS doesn't take 2 weeks to run my background...
R&L bumped up the starting pay offer to $27.40 when I stopped by to thank them for having considered me and tell them I had decided to go with UPS instead. They told me I could be essentially driving by the start of next week. Told me to call back if I change my mind this week.
I tabled it out.
I hope UPS was accurate when they said it's 55-60 hours a week. Otherwise the arithmetic changes. -
Senator, i need the actual pay stubs, please. Not some app----i am not implying that you simply typed in any numbers. But we need the actual pay stubs. -
It's been a while, so i don't remember, but yes it may take a while to get rolling after you get hired. i think most companies are like this nowadays.

Some of us don't even get pay stubs. Mine is the same deal; direct deposit with paperless online payroll info.
