been to that terminal many times. Glad things are going well, most don't hang around as the pay steps aren't the best around and they can't wait that long for top rate.

#### I worked for UPS as a delivery driver doing packages and made more than that just coming off the street. $18.75 and hour to be exact. I wonder why that is?
-
Because UPS Freight has a lower overall payscale than UPS (Package). The package delivery drivers will always make more money than the Freight drivers despite not having CDLs.
-
Ahhh ok that makes sense.

On Thursday I drive by the UPS Freight terminal in Richfield, Ohio and I always think of Russian Rabbit and the UPS Freight Terminal in Richfield, Ohio that place looks like it is off of somebody's HO Train set. I have to get a picture of that place because it does it looks like it belongs on a model rail road the way the yard is set up and the way the buildings are the place almost doesn't look real, either that or HO modelers have just gotten that good with weathering techniques and what not.
Bob Dobalina Thanks this. -
Package Car drivers at UPS don't need at least a Class C CDL for HAZMAT purposes? I guess maybe not they really don't carry a placardable amount of HAZMAT.
Like Medical Supply companies while they don't have CDL vehicles like Lincare you know they have Ford Econoline van's which are not CDL vehicles, but they do have placardable amount of hazmat so that would need like a Class C CDL. -
Parcel, no hazmat is required. They don't handle enough hazardous packages to require it. I think it also applies to Fed Ex Express and USPS. It doesn't mean they don't deliver hazmat, just not enough to require one.
Freight is a different story, because they handle the stuff that Parcel can't deliver. I've had situations where I had to turn down hazardous pickups because they can't be mixed in with general freight. -
But what's interesting is that a friend of mine started in Feeders over there a couple years ago and his starting rate was $18/hr. The scale at the time was $18, $21, $26, $33 (increasing yearly, topping out in 4 years) Now I think they top out around $36/hr. I wonder if package delivery drivers start out slightly higher but have smaller increases? That's weird you started out higher than a CDL driver pulling doubles. But I get it. They work their butts off.
I feel bad we hijacked @Russian Rabbit 's thread going on this tangent! -
Yea I started at $18.75 to be exact.
-
Feeders start off at 18.75 an hour. 19.08 for doubles.
