i dont' like volvo, but this unit, #12557 has over 1,300,000 miles on the clock, yet runs linehaul AND daytime city work EVERY DAY.
Could this be the "Cal Ripken" of the fleet?
Note, that this IS NOT typical; Most linehaul tractors are the newer Freighliner cascadia models with the dd13 engine and 12 speed automated trans. We also have newer volvo tractors but we're not getting anymore volvos.
In fact, i had for a while a new '18 Liner with about 4000 miles when i first got it. It has since been snatched away from me due to political reasons which i'd rather not get into now.

Know anything about the team jobs...?
-
From what i hear, 4 day workweek and $1500 minimum gross.speedyk Thanks this. -
This past week I spoke with a small regional LTL. Their starting rate is higher than old year 3 or the improved year 2 above, after that they'd get left behind.
In the same market (Denver/Front Range) UPSF has a CL ad stating...
So there must be some leeway for managers to set competitive rates for a given market.$23.00 per hour for Local Drivers!
Shift: Sunrise (6:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
UPS Freight is hiring individuals to work as Full-Time City Drivers. This position involves the driving of a tractor-trailer and the daily pick up and delivery of freight from numerous commercial and residential customers on a given route.

My understanding is that all of the LTL's are short on drivers in the Denver area.
speedyk Thanks this. -
We have few Volvo trucks from 2005/2006 with Cummins engine, more than 1million miles and to me they ride better than some of those newer trucks. Recently I drove Kenworth t680, it had all kinds of rattles and it felt cheap inside. Plus Volvo seems to have more space inside... just my .25 cents
Bob Dobalina, speedyk and Mike2633 Thank this. -
Truth. Most people who bash Volvos never drove one. And those fleet KWs, even when spec'd nicely, ARE cheap and have horrible engineering and quality control. Have fun with those electrical gremlins.Fuelinmyveins and speedyk Thank this.

Yes, that's true----certain terminals will start off at $22 or $23. Now, i don't know how the progression works from then: Will you just stay at $22 until you would normally surpass $22 if you started at $17.70? Or is there a different progression?speedyk Thanks this.

i've talked lately about negative/ less than positive stuff lately.
Now, let's talk about some positive things:
Pay, still pretty good.
Very well maintained equipment. Many is very new.
Give me time to think of more.
