So I just signed on my truck 3 weeks ago any questions I'll answer if I can. Pay 1.02 a mile plus fsc. Also discounts on fuel average 25 to 35 cents off cash price. They seem to run you pretty good. 2800 plus miles a week. You'll burn your 70 pretty quick. Dispatched at 55 mph average and you can't average more than 63mph for your 11. Can only do 693 miles per 11 hour.

Hey Lyle, did you lease on with a truck you already own or do you have something new with payments? Just curious if a rate like this would allow an owner op to purchase a new truck and be able to afford to run the truck and pay themselves a decent wage.

I leased on a truck that i have financed, my payment on the truck is 1400 a month. I just did 23 days out and turned in just over 10k in miles, after fuel and insurance and escrow, netted 8,847.19. Then i set aside 1350 for taxes. You get the miles thats for sure. Gets a little irritating waiting sometimes but when its time to roll you are moving. Loads are mostly around 24-28k in wieght. There are alot of owner ops there with truck payments and all seem happy and doing well. So far im liking it i was pulling containers and that didn't pay all that well but i was home everyday. Just make the best decision you can i think if you dont go crazy with a truck payment you should do well.

Did you lease it through UPS or an outside vendor?

I got my truck through Lone Mountain. 2009 Prostar had 470k when i got it just clicked 600k. I dont think UPS has a lease option you have to have your own rig. You can sign on then go and get you a truck. Talked with an o/O that did that. He also got his through lone mountain

So here's an update incase was wondering. 1st trip out was good ran hard. Average 3k miles a week. Stayed out 3 weeks went home for 9. 2nd trip out 1st week seemed slow but pulled in 3200 miles. 2nd week has sucked, waited 15 hours for my trailer to be loaded because they had to fill it full. So ok the down time was nice but 2 days later I get a relay that a driver brought in and I was doing the 2nd leg. Well it's over wieght on the trailer and it's Sunday and looks like I got to wait till Monday before they'll rework the trailer. So this trip out is not going as good as I wanted. But you know you have good weeks and bad weeks. Will update later

Yes they allow a rider, but you have to get approval and carry the extra insurance. As far as update miles are still decent every now and then you have a slow week but in a 21 day period it seems to average out. I stay out 21 plus days. Mon, Tues and weds seem to be the slowest then you run your tail off.
