For Truckload you won't deal with packages or anything related to LTL. From what I've seen so far Truckload deals in dedicated accounts.

I'm a recent cdl graduate student. Do you need any experience prior to trying to join?

Is there a way to tell UPSF from UPSF/TL? I applied to a position here in Richmond and it didn't say either way, website just labled as UPSF. I know UPSF in Richmond is Union but can I assume TL is more of an OTR thing? Position was for a City Driver if that makes a difference. Weird thing was it said full time but said shift was Sunrise/Preload 06:00-12:00. So I'm assuming 6 days? Even then that's not 40.

This is for a local city pick up & delivery driver position. They put 6-12 because you would start on the extra board(fill in) and their trucks leave anywhere from 6-12 in the morning. It would be a M-F job. I believe that all the UPSF is union. It will be full time even if you don't always get called to work that day.

It's 18 months or at least it was. You don't want UPS truckload anyways. UPS freight LTL is the only way to go.

City drivers at UPS Freight LTL have been hating there jobs lately although no one quits. Richmond is the home terminal so expect to be micromanaged. Pay is okay to start ($17 or so) and goes up to $27.15 after 4 years. OT after 8. You would be on call for a few years before getting a scheduled start time. Anymore questions PM me.

I totally agree that LTL is the only way to go. Though I'm local and make decent hourly, it's still a bust on the truckload division.
