    Bottom Line: Find a job your happy with (union or non union) learn to live with the pay and be happy! If you cant live with that pay then your living beyond your means. Remember, you cant take your union with you when your day comes.

    unfairly punished on what level?

    at some point you have to pick your battles - and going to a state or regional hearing because of a reprimand would not only be wasteful - but silly.

    Knighton, here I pretty much agree. However, I still hope the day comes where some of the douche bags that run the big co's get theirs.

    Three days on the street no pay...........union did jack ####. After six months the company gave the pay for the three days, but never punished the manager.

    but you are not answering the questions - "for what?"

    and in the end if he got his money - what is the deal?


    Unions are not in place so you can take revenge out on a manager..

    and Unions are not to be used to torment supervisors either.

    we get a few guys every year that think once they get their union cards - that it is "payback time"

    WRONG

    just do your job.

    those guys with that sort of attitude wind up fired soon enough.

    He was made to stay OT when lower seniority people went home, was told to do a job he was not trained to do. All major violations of the union contract. He left, told manager he was not qualified to do job.

    Union did not nothing to get money back. It wasn't until he hired an attorney on his own dime. The union rep didn't want to do the paper work.


    This was a guy that has over 25 years at the company, has never been in trouble before or after. Six months later the company fire the manager for poor performance.

    The union did jack #### to help this guy.

    and besides - this is not the thread to be discussing all this...


    anyway - something sounds fishy about this story your buddy is telling you...

    Sorry nothing fishy, I was there at the time it happened........................

    But what big picture, manager was dead wrong, company admitted it, but would not punish said manager, or give back the 3 days pay. Please state the big picture, I thought that is why a pay the union. This was a black and white case, our local has no balls.

    Our local doesn't even bring or have an attorney go over the contract. It's 12 guys plus the business agent sitting across from local management and 6 corporate attorneys.

    You need to go read some local 705 post on trucking boards.unless all of them are telling whopers.
