You are right skinny I dont nor have I ever worked for YRC or any other Union company. I would not work for a union contract either. They dont look out for their workers they look out for their union due's each month. I make .26% .41cpm average plus 30 tarp pay 20 each stop after 1st. Beneifits enclude Paid vacation hoidays (major hoidays that is).BLBS ins $104.00 a week for family with no limit on number of family members. All this without paying a% of my money to some union punk in another state. On average I bring in about $750-$950 after taxes a week I could not live on .29cpm which is higher than minimum wage by the way. Also the State of Alabama has been growing leaps and bounds the last 10 plus years. Lots of companies coming into this state but if you did your research you would know this already. Also I dont blame the unions for our jobs going over the border or over seas, I blame Our Government and the high taxes. No matter what party you like high taxes mean less jobs. BTW Alabama has some of the lowest taxes in the nation. I will also agree that my distaste for your comment (God bless the I.B.T) got my blood pressure up and thats why I started the union bashing. This will be the last comment on the matter unless its to answer any misunderstanding on where I stand.

if you think a non union company pays you a good wage because they want to treat you like a friend i have a news flash!!!!!!!!!!!!
non union company's
always pay just under union scale to keep out the union
most don't pay overtime
they can cut your pay or neglect to pay you or fire you for anything and you have no recourse
you have to pay into your health insurance or you don't get any
you pay into your pension and the company pays alittle too (maybe if they want to stop they can)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
union road drivers
untill the recent pay reductions drivers got $.57 a hub mile
$23 and change and hour delay time starts 10 minutes after arrival
sleep in motels usually home every other day
overtime after 8 hours except drivers on mileage rarely see that much clock time
pay zero for healthcare
i'm not sure the exact number but about $7300 a year goes to your pension
don't touch freight there are dock workers to do that
11 paid holidays (including your birthday) a year and when you work them you get double time
vacation is payed at your weekly average pay for the previous year
after 1 year 1 week after 3 yrs 2 weeks after 7 years 3 weeks after 12 years 4 weeks after 15 years 5 weeks vacation a year
any pay shortages or warning letters or firings go thru a grievance process that gives you a fighting chance
most guys i know are in the $75000 a year range
all for 2 1/2 hours a pay per month to the union punk
and they have the lowest turnover in the industry (guess why)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
the reason the union companys are having problems is because the non-union company's found alot of people to do more for less money
if you look at the non union ltl's how many drivers do you see in their 60's ,not many because when you get older and you will you cant do as much physical labor as when you are young and the non-union co's get rid of you when you can't produce the amount of work that a 32 year old does
the reason yrc is in trouble is mismanagement they have put under every company they have put their hands on preston and jevic are the biggest of those
before yellow bought roadway they were profitable and debt free
yellow bought them and financed everything and their biggest problem is debt not the union
ups is union and does quite well against their biggest competitor fed-ex
around the world the average ceo makes 30 times the average worker
in the us the average ceo as of 2007 makes 344 times the average worker
so be a union hater and be brainwashed by the big company's
you won't get your retirement untill you are 70 hope you can still throw those 24x24 tarps over an 8' high load when your 69
soon we will be a rich or poor country
think of your childrens futureLast edited: Sep 5, 2009

I have a friend who works for OOPS-Truckload out of Richland,Wa. He is non-union. They haul for Fergeson out of their warehouse. Word is that the conditions there with management are getting bad. Lots of turnover in Management and in Drivers. There is a flatbed division in Stockton,Ca too. He is looking elsewhere now. As for the teamsters; I doubt that I will ever join any union again. Especially after this past presidential election. I was a Shop Steward in the past and I don't care for the corruption and cronyism that a union brings to the workplace. I would rather be judged on my merits. Unions are just like having the ACLU or ACORN in the workplace. It's too bad, because if they weren't so corrupt, they might do some good....

Well just like any other companies out there some make more some make less. Is it me or when people really try to talk about things such as this, why bring children into it. Like we dont already do this, example Public Schools we need more tax money (think of the chidren). Jefferson trucking out of Indiana I was talking with one of their drivers Friday morning he was telling me his company was going down his bank wouldnt even cash their payroll check. Oh and he is in the I.B.T so you see its just like any other company you have your good and bad. I just dont have to pay some punk to hold my hand to find a good one. We are never going to agree on this so its pointless to continue and Im sure we will end up booted to the politics section so lets just agree that were never going to come to an conclusion on this matter.

Does anyone have any information on being an O/O for UPS?
Anything would be helpful, but mainly looking for rates, requirements for truck and driver, and benefits (if any).
Thanks for the help.
Casper
BTW, I do have an email in to the recruiting department, but I am impatient.Hopefully someone on here can give me some a slight clue as to what to expect before I actually talk with them.
