I have heard a slightly higher rate for Fedex a couple of years ago, maybe now the same.

What is happening here is that the O/O slowly goes broke but because there is positive cash flow, it appears as though everything is going fine.

Until one day, the truck is worn out, all extra cash has been spent on home expenses and there is nothing left over with witch to replace the truck. Or the truck gets traded in and the payment on the replacement goes up a little but is offset by (hopefully) lower maintenance costs. All the while, the risk is on the one truck operator and the reward is on the company.

Kinda like the federal government is running the USA. As long as there is positive cash flow it all looks good.

    Until one day......

Now THATS THE TALK I LOVE TO HEAR= THE FACTS AND NUMBERS. That's not bad considering. Now your insurance is that through them or on your own? I contacted them today and have the application/info. Only reason I'm interested is their building an Amazon warehouse up the road and bunches of loads constantly coming out. They open summer next year. Really have me thinking.......

Oh heck go buy a fleet and paint them brown and hire drivers. You'll be a millionaire in a year. It's so easy.

You had already stated the fuel surcharge was . $44/mile. So, it would be $.51/mile after expenses.

go read message # 23, not my part the comment i was replying to in message 23. Then go down to message 24. No way making anything cause his figures doesn't include maintenance and repairs out of that gross. That's horrible for a truck owner. I've made more than that as company driver. I'm still flabbergasted. They must get free tires and repairs to afford to work there. Besides why would you wanna see that UPS guy doing same thing knowing hes making 70-80K a year with benefits doing same job but he's an employee. I know this cause friend just moved here and retired from UPS from up north. FLABBERGASTED!! I was just asking cause I was trying to make a plan be I have decide within next 3 weeks. But at least I found out and eliminated another. But I still wish them drivers the best and safe and Happy Holidays.

Summary of this thread.....WOW!!!! The Schneider/JB's/Crete's, and many others of the trucking world have dumbed down so many drivers into thinking MILES,MILES,MILES means more $!!!!!

O/O A: I got some good miles this week(3400) im gonna bring home roughly $1800, good week!!!

Me: I ran 1890 and will bring home $3200 and home the weekend!!!!

It's not really $2 a gallon. The way they come up with a great sounding fuzzy truckin math number like that to advertise is... Fuel avg cost $3.85 per gallon divided by 7mpg equals .xx cents per mile fuel cost to roll. Now subtract their fuel surcharge from that .xx amount then multiply that number by 7mpg. If you get better fuel mileage you might end up with free fuel or even pennies per mile bonus money. Does that sound like $2 a gallon fuel to you? It's still just a buck forty a mile. They're using twisted logic and your surcharge to create that legendary cheap fuel.

You go where they want when they want -- for less than a company driver that has benefits. What's the upside again? Besides, ######## pays. If any idiot can do the job -- you'll be paid like any ol idiot.
