There are plenty of jobs with living wages.......you just arent going to get one if you are 18 years old, have the equivalent of a 5th grade education, have a room full of participation trophy's, think online porn is sex, and mommy still does your laundry and cleans your room! You WORK YOUR WAY UP to a good paying job......

I get what you’re saying. Walmart here pays $14.70 up From $11 . Decent 1bm apartment $950 plus utilities.

If a Foodservice cdl driver did a van package job. He’d be saying “that’s it?” What’s sad is package almost pays the same. A lil van with some heavy packages vs 28” 35” 45” 48” ft trailers of 50% heavy ### boxes which some drivers unload daily a full trailer is funny. Van packages 10x easier then food service. I’ve done Foodservice so in my eyes this is probably way easier. Any thing physical beats the body but I don’t think Van is that bad. Some of these descriptions make it sound Harder then a Foodservice job. There are guys delivering food for 20 yrs way harder job. Van can be done for 20+ years. Plus the schedule on Van is more friendly to the family life. Even more then most trucking jobs. Van guys with OT can make 120k while working daytime schedules.

Don't forget the parents of the current generation, the ones that won't work, have been preaching "go to college and get a real job" versus being in the same zip code as someone getting their hands dirty. The kids also play video games, not sports.

I would strongly advise not to join ups until after January. (Though you probably won't be able to then)

You will have a good 4 or 600 boxes to deliver per day right now. You will start when it's dark and end when it is dark. They were paying helpers in my area (guy that carries box from the car to the door) 21 an hour and if you met the driver in your own car and took a few boxes left at a determined poorly hidden (back of trailers at storage containers or churches) location or from the driver's vehicle. It would be 28 an hour + fuel.

It's over 40 to just relay from terminal to terminal. Much easier pud gig.

Your offer seems awful low to be a driver really(to the one other guy). But then again I'm by worldport so idk how the rest of the country works.

    Ahhhhhhhahahahahahahahahaahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaa

    ::points and laughs::

You have 600 boxes. The only ones that get stuck together are ones going from businesses.

Notice how I said from....not to. Because you stuck them in there yourself.

You do pickups aswell. Usually around 1-3 pm when you can finally get some room to put them in there and walk.

    Ooooo, living the high life...
Im assuming youre saying that the 15/hr and a 950 $ apt is fine and a good job, apologies if you werent intimating that.

    15$/hr is about 30k a year, gross
    Taxes
    Ss
Your takehome is about 25k, come tax time, you get 5k back, but that just makes it an impromptu savings account

Useless Insurance that covers nothing runs near 150$ a month, you make pennies, so thats why its so low.

Lets call your housing needs including everything at 1k for slightly easier math

    Internet/phone, thats 100/month
Got a car? And dont forget insurance and gas, 400$/month

You need to eat? Geez, we'll be generous and say 100$ a week (400$) assuming you even know how to cook, thats liveable, otherwise, you can live on 10 mcdonalds meals a week right?

So thats 2050$ in expenses monthly.

Your entertainment will be the internet/phone because heres whats left over at the end of the month: 33$

    Savings account? Vacation? Hah

Yeah, thats about what that "good paying 15$/hr gets you. And dont you DARE try to have a family or life unless they also work full time, and those crippling college debts you were conned into, yeah, those will never get paid off.

I did this in a low cost of living area 2008-2012 with my wife cooking (cheese and meat was a luxury), 15$/hr barely cut it, and the only reason it was possible was that she had gotten a brand new car for graduating college and she had 0 student debt.

I had doubts too, so I decided to pass on it. Just write down a pro/con list and then think it over.
