We drive all autos for linehaul. Our fleet is going all auto except acouple old city tractors that are Stick. Might have to road test in a manual but you can float the gears. I road tested in a auto.

I don't know if the question was for parcel or freight, but where I work, there is a mixture of manual and automatic. You drive different equipment everyday.

Yeah he said at the bottom of his questions any companies recommended. It seems he’s looking at LTL also cause he mentioned FedEx.

You're probably right. I just wanted to clarify, because I don't know how things work at the other company.

Thanks for the replies, just wanted to get that question and my situation floating out there, just in case there's a match. I'm not looking for OTR, however dedicated would be top of list, followed by regional. Hey, at my age, I have time to pick battles and time is of the essence as well. I respect what I'm learning from these forums and have GREAT respect for this machine. A truck is no joke! So, with that said, I flow and grow...much to learn and willing. The carriers I mentioned are like institutions in trucking, but you have not, because you ask not. :)

Oh, parcel, freight.....doesn't matter, considering I'll have an "e" restriction on my license, again I counted the cost by training strictly on autos. I would have to drive for a carrier that has assigned autos.

That's exactly what I tell people who act like drivers who work for certain companies are lizard people from another planet.

I started at Schneider, man. 23 years old, fresh from a desk job and completely stupid. Over the years, I have worked my way up in the ranks, and finally decided to give UPS a shot. They called me the next morning for an interview.

It does happen, and it can happen to you.

Depending on your area, parcel can be a real beast to get into. Certain areas don't hire off the street. The job I have is considered a retirement job at a lot of terminals.
