    I’d take YRC over Saia.

most barns have two seniority lists. one for inhouse and one for street hires.

you have to stay in that local. if you transfer out of that barn and local. then you start over.

The local often covers multiple different loacations with each one having a separate seniority list. Yes you would start over if you transfer locations.
The only exception that I am aware of is if they open a second location because they run out of capacity at one site. They will transfer many of the new jobs to the new bldg and people will follow the jobs or stay at the old site by picking jobs by seniority. Then when a new job opens up at either location you bid on it with seniority. They only let you go from one location to the other with new jobs.

There are many things that UPS is, but cheap labor most certainly is not one of them. A brand new driver who is working will make $60,000-$80,000 his first year as long as he hires in at a busy location. In the middle check which was 12 years ago and many pay raises happened since. I had 3 years in and had only recently topped out in pay. The bottom check was 6 years ago for 2 months at top pay. I don’t care if anyone goes to work there. If you can look long term if a person who wants to make the most money driving someone else’s truck, you will not beat the pay. Yes you will put up with some BS along the way, but show me a job that doesn’t have some level of BS. I also can see where Old Dominion or other jobs could be a better fit for many people than UPS. I left to haul cars 6.5 years ago and haven’t looked back, but I do work harder. There are very few jobs that I am aware of where you walk in the door with top pay and you are the number one person on the seniority list. If you don’t have time to pay your dues you won’t be getting a premium job any time soon. Those of you who do have patience, the top check is a friend of mine who had two years less seniority than me. I guess he had 11 or 12 years seniority and made $128,000 in 2016. Is this the cheap labor you speak of?

Was at Parcel. Freight is good, but slightly behind in pay.

Your seniority is the day you are hired. Street hire tractor trailer or package car.
