im anti-union also,until one hires me...i have a low opinion of these places. whenever im at secaucus or any other of these places that leave stuff in the trailer you can count on me pushing it right out the rear of the trailer onto the ground,i will check to make sure there isnt a camera first though. and if there is ill go to the rear of the lot or whatever is necessary.

theyre saving time by wasting my time,and these people think they are on a higher level than the rest of us,so were suppose to just "take it".

 

You work for Werner, I think its obvious you're anti union. You're also against fair wages and proper treatment of drivers.

I've pulled many loads for UPS around X-mas time. They are a finely tuned machine. They pay Werner good money to pull the loads, your beef should be with your employer and not UPS.


Why should they pay someone $30 an hour when you will do it for free?

What UPS are you going to? UPS is all about working your butt off.

 

Bottom line, as you posted, you were probably dispatched to pickup an empty, not the newest trailer. if there were more than one trailer available, i would have took an empty, not one with empty pallets. as far as 30 bucks an hour, is that what they make? take a look at the UPS delv. driver in my area sweating his AXX off jumping out of his delv. vehicle hobbling around with his knee brace on working till his del. and pickups are done. i wouldnt classify that as doing nothing! as far as cleaning out your trailer and dumping the garbage out in a customers parking lot, yea, i could probably vision a Werner driver doing that. Great way to build customer relations as well as image.

 

They are some of the hardest workers around. It's not as easy as OTR.


I really doubt the people who left the pallets in the truck make anywhere close to $30 an hour. I would put them in the $10- $20 range.


I think the OP is just jealous UPS employees have what they have and he is stuck at the bottom with Werner. He, like most people, would jump at the chance to work for such a well respected company.

 

dockworkers DO NOT get paid $30 at UPS...i just checked with my bro-in-law, who in fact works at UPS, but he is what is known as a loader/unloader...(dock worker),he IS union, gets full benefits, but only works PART TIME....he gets $16.50 per hour for his job, now he is not sure, but at his location, he doesn't know what full time dock workers get., and so it might be a matter of semantics calling someone a "dock worker".....his official job title is "loader/unloader"

now mind, he is part time....full time would be paid a bit more, but never more than the drivers, who get about $22 and up per hour...UPS drivers would be able to tell you what they get, bear in mind you have "brownie drivers", and tractor-trailer drivers.

so sorry to burst your bubble, but they do not get $30 per hour....

 

im new this forum but i do work for UPS in south florida for the past 4 years. im currently at 12.20 per hour as a part time loader and im union. we get all the benefits as the full timers do as well. im also a fill in driver as well and my starting pay for driving is 25.19 an hour then overtime after 8hrs. There are package car drivers that make 30 an hour those are the high senority guys and thats what they top out at as far as raises. Part timers will never top out in pay raises , we get 2 raises per year. UPS does run a very tight ship and there all about on time every time!

As a LONG time UPS feeder driver, methinks YOU have a BAD case of envy....No, we just use contractors for the garbage loads we don't bid on....84K ?? Jeez, I do MUCH better than that....Enjoy !!

 

Hang in there, do your time in package cars and bid feeder when you can...It's well worth it !! Love MY Western Conference pension check !!!
